I like the first two collars. The last one was a bit too trying to be Chris Kane.
the first two are the same one! just tied differently!
the second i was shooting for sort of an art noveau flourish look, but yeah i can see how it ended up a bit like his stuff. i want it to be more floral looking, but it’s hard as hell to sew/turn it nicely. there’s a little point at the back neck which i like though :)
Hey merry xmas!! I have a question about patent leather and I thought you might have some knowledge about it... I'm thinking about buying a pair of brown patent leather boots, but I pretty much never wear brown. Can I change the color with black shoe polish or would that ruin them? I don't care about the patent finish, I'd actually rather they be matte black. Thanks!!
i haven’t worked with patent leather before, but I’m guessing that the surface treatment will probably not let dye/polish sink into the leather. If you sanded the surface, it would probably take off that coating and let you re-color them—but it would end up being more of a suedey finish.
But i’m just guessing here—if they are cheap i would say go for it and experiment, if not, I wouldn’t take the chance.
It’s possible to do little blocks like these with freezer paper. It’s the Dear Jane quilt - isn’t it? If so lots of people have “copied” that over the years and there’s loads of tips and tricks on Yahoo groups that the book doesn’t provide.
hummmm?? that is freezer paper on there. i’m not paper piecing it (if that’s what you mean?) because i’m handsewing it all.
yah it is the dear jane quilt, i’m doing fine, this one’s just tedious is all.
